This hardy perennial herb is easy to grow and can be planted with flowers, vegetables or other herbs. Use as a border or in pots, either indoors or outside. The thin, green tube-like tops have a mild onion flavor and are used for flavoring salads, soups, stews and stir-fry. Grows well in a sunny or slightly shaded location.

SOWING…Plant seeds outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant multiple seeds (10-20 seeds) within a 3 inch circle. Each seeded area should be 24 inches apart. Cover seeds with ¼ inch of fine soil, press down and keep soil consistently moist until seeds start to grow.

THINNING…No thinning should be necessary, as chives grow best in clumps.

GERMINATION…Germinates in 10 to 15 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
