What Deneweth's Is Doing For Sustainability

- We Recycle greenhouse plastics through the Michigan based East Jordan Plastic Recycling Facility.
- We Recycle plastic greenhouse coverings.
- We Recycle Cardboard. All carboard gets recycled into box trays for our customers to use.
- We Recycle Paper products.
- We Recycle water and fertilizer through our flood bench systems.
- We use natural, biological insect control, so far resulting in 70% less insecticide use.
- We use natural, biological funguses to help control insects and diseases cutting down on insecticide & fungicide.
- We use natural enzymes to control algae on floors and benches instead of chemicals.
- We use safe biological products to control algae in our water systems.
- We use High Efficiency Lighting.
- We use Shade and Heat Curtains to help cut back on natural gas and electricity consumption.
- We cut back on natural gas consumption through plant technology.
- We conserve water and fertilizer through our automated watering systems (flood benches, booms, echo's and drip irrigation) by delivering fertilizer and water in more efficient ways.
- We are constantly testing products and procedures that can further help us move towards a sustainable future.

What Deneweth's Garden Center
is researching for our future!

Kenny Deneweth heads our research team here at Deneweth's Garden Center. Kenny Deneweth has grown up in the Green Industry, he is a manager and a grower at Deneweth's. Kenny is also a full time student at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan.
Kenny has done several research projects through school and work.
Some examples of his research topics include:
- Alternative sources of sustainable energy for heat and power, including; Solar, Geo Thermal, Wind and alternative fuel sources.
- Natural, Biological plant Insect Control to reduce and eliminate the use of Insecticides. (Using predatory insects to control insects that damage plants and spread diseases in plants).
- The use of trap and banker plants to reduce insecticide usage in greenhouses and nurseries.
- The Soil Food Web. (Using healtheir soils that contain good fungus and bacteria that can help naturally fight of insects and diseases).
- Pest control through the use of radio, sound and microwaves.
- Government grants for research and development in the Green Industry.
- Recirculating water systems and surface water collection systems.
Kenny Deneweth and the Deneweth Team have a true passion for the sustainable future of this wonderful planet.
